Well... this one caused a lot of work for me. It took a while until I have found the right POV and the surface that way as it is now. Three broken trials to render it completely... The first time, I noticed (after 6 hours of rendering) that the water was too transparent, it looked artificial and.. .weird. The second thing was the Strata I used. Same thing... too artificial!
Today I worked on it, changed the Strata and removed the WW Water Opacity-Plugin. Then I rendered... but noticed that a cloud was blocking the sun! ARGHS! Stopped rendering... checked and changed the sun a bit... then the cloudscape!
Then, finally, I started to render it again! And THIS is the result out of it now!
Took 8 hours and 34 minutes to render completely. Used tools: World Machine v1.0 Basic, Terragen v0.9.19, IrfanView 3.97, MS Paint (for creating the basic shape of the terrain).
This is a cool terrain. The water is not bad, bbut looks a little too constant. I would bring some of the water features down, like the one that works with the terrain structure. Surface is not bad, but could be greatly improved. If you added a little yellow/brown to the grass color, and upped the slope constraints, I think it would be nicer, and definitely needs some constraint on the strata. The atmosphere could a lot more "ping" to it. Maybe with a little more red thrown in there, and some lower, thicker fog. Nice work though
Sorry, what I meant for the atmosphere was basically a little more contrast. Give the atmosphere something else that's more defined and more alive and tangible. It's hard to describe, but you'll understand if and when you find it
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The overall theme of this contest is 'Life', but most importantly, your biggest reason why you love life. Too frequently are we met with complaints, arguments, sadness... and more in between, so we would like you to portray something a little bit more upbeat, happy; something that makes you smile and feel warm, inside.
So, take a photograph of something that makes you giddy with joy, something that you enjoy, something that you may take for granted. Perhaps you can ask yourself what things you love in life, or what things you love about life, it's all up to you in how you interpret and portray this theme!

I've never felt such a strange combination of pity and indigestion.
